My name is Jessica, I'm a retired Army veteran and aspire to be original, innovative, and have a love for creating a variety of projects. What does that mean? Well, I just don't have one design specialty, niche or limit myself. Still confused? Okay, I'll try to clear things up for you. I'm not the jack-of-all trades when it comes to being creative, but I like to experiment and try my hand at anything creative to see if I'm good at it or just never want to do it again.
I do, however, like to do most anything by hand, whether it's drawing, doodling, sketching out an idea and bring it to life digitally, creating a template for a package design project, coming up with a cool logo design or whatever peaks my interest.
Here's a bit of my background before I jumped into the world of Graphic Design, then maybe you will understand my ability to take risks and see what happens on the flip-side.
I was born in Texas and raised in the Tampa Bay area here in Florida.
An alumni from East Bay High School, and soon after graduation I enlisted in the United States Army.
During my 25 years in service, I was a (92Y) Unit Supply Specialist, a Senior Parachutist and Jumpmaster with 78 static line parachute jumps.
I had the privilege of traveling to over 20 countries, stationed in 3 different stateside locations, 2 overseas tours and served in 2 combat deployments, the first Gulf War in Saudi Arabia (1990-91) and in Afghanistan at Bagram Airfield in (2012).
Once I retired from the military in late 2014, I moved back home to Florida.
After months of job searching in the supply chain management arena and other forms of management positions, I decided to go back to school and do what I love most, being creative and learn more about the arts.
Some may say that you really are jumping out of your element and into a trade that can be cumbersome and challenging. Well...I love challenges and I'm competitive. Although, I didn't have any formal training in the creative field during my time in service, I still made time to keep up with my sketching and drawing to pass the time and relieve the stresses the military can present you with. I was introduced to the Graphic Design field a few years before I retired from the military and wanted the chance to regain all my artistic skills I had set aside after high school. I wanted to have the ability to create, design and use my imagination.
So...here I am, ready and willing.
